Perception and Human Experience
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Susanna Siegel, Harvard University
Dr. Siegel will speak on cognitive penetrability and perceptual justification, arguing that several popular theories of perceptual justification make false predictions in cases where perceptual experiencesare cognitively penetrated.
We invite submissions from graduate students to our 12th annual graduate student conference. We encourage submissions from various academicdisciplines interested in exploring the interdisciplinary roles ofperception and its connection to human experience. Submissions shouldphilosophically broach the question of sensory modalities and what they tellus.
By submitting an abstract and outline, the author agrees that uponconference admittance, he or she will prepare and submit a draft manuscript by March 1, 2009. Only submissions that adhere to the following guidelineswill be considered.
1) A working abstract of 150 words, along with a detailed outline of yourargument. Your abstract and outline should be prepared for a blind review.Please provide two electronic files, where one file contains onlybiographical information and title of paper and a second file containingonly abstract and outline. Please do not include any identifying informationin the file containing abstract and outline.
2) Deadline for abstract: January 9, 2009
